The building’s owner, Westward Housing is now seeking to sell this old infant school building in Northam Square.
In recent years it was known as the Leisure Centre.
As Northam Town Council was successful in having it included in the register of assets of community value held by Torridge District Council, Westward Housing had to advise Torridge District Council of their intention to sell this Community asset.
Northam Town Council has not yet decided if it is willing to purchase the asset. It has commissioned a full survey and valuation, ( this has now been done and reports are due in 2 to 4 weeks time).
Northam Town Council have not yet formed any plans for the future operation of the building nor have they decided if they will purchase it.
Any community group could have bid if this situation had been properly and publically advertised.
